Network Attenuators

RD536812-01“Attenuation” is the decrease in signal strength that occurs between the signal’s origin point and its destination. Internet signals, whether transmitted via DSL, cable internet, wifi, or whatever else, experience some attenuation before arriving at the user’s computer. Network attenuators are used to measure how far the signals are diminished. Many network adapters have attenuators built-in, and users can often see the exact degree of attenuation on a network control panel, though few users have any need for this information.
